Jeremie Warnia Takes Glen Helen Win.
San Bernardino California, Glen Helen Motocross Park
Jeremie Warnia intended to spend this weekend practicing at a local motocross track, but when he learned that there was a round of the ITP QuadCross series at Glen Helen, he decided to give it a try.
"I always wanted to race at Glen Helen, it is a well known track in France and it sounded really fun", Jeremie said.
The 35 degrees weather and challenging super rough track were a good test as Jeremie took on both the 450 Pro class as well as the Open Pro Class... a total of four grueling motos ! There was one problem though- his bike was an old Team Suzuki practice bike with stock rear suspension and a totally stock motor. Quad racing "Guru" Wayne Hinson was nice enough to loan the bike to Jeremie for the race. Against the highly modified factory bikes, no one was expecting much, but Jeremie just wanted to have fun and race.
Jeremie rose to the occasion however and rode brilliantly winning the Open Pro Class outright (against competitors like multi time Pont-de-Vaux champion Doug Eichner) and placing a fine third in the 450 Pro class.
Yoshimura Vice President Brant Russell was amazed, "That quad was so clapped out that it was a miracle that Jeremie rode as fast as he did. The tires were bald, it had an old bone stock engine - it was by no means a proper race bike."
Nevertheless, Jeremie rode the wheels off of Hinson's loaner.
"I had a great time today," The excited Jeremie said, "In addition to the win and the racing- I made a lot of new friends and had a great time."
